Zakatable wealth = cash + gold + silver + investments + business goods + receivables − debts due. Zakat is 2.5 % (lunar year) or 2.5775 % (solar year) when this wealth reaches the nisab: 85 g of gold or 595 g of silver.
Cash 8,000, 40 g of gold at 110 a gram and 5,000 of shares, minus 1,500 of debts, make 15,900; zakat at 2.5 % is 397.50.
