How to use Citation Generator (APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard)

Choose the source type, list the authors one per line (“Last, First”) and fill in the details you have. All four styles update together; press Copy next to a style to paste it with italics into your document.

How it works

Author lists follow each style’s rules: APA lists up to 20 authors with “&”, MLA uses “et al.” from three authors, Chicago lists up to ten, and Harvard (Cite Them Right) uses “et al.” from four. DOIs are written as https://doi.org links.

Example

Watson and Crick’s 1953 paper becomes “Watson, J. D., & Crick, F. H. C. (1953). Molecular structure of nucleic acids… Nature, 171(4356), 737–738. https://doi.org/10.1038/171737a0” in APA.
