PDF to Markdown.
Extract digital PDF text into editable Markdown locally. Choose reading order, review page boundaries and download your corrected .md file.
20 MiB · 200 pages · 500,000 extracted characters. Digital text only; no OCR, images or automatic heading/list/table reconstruction. Fonts and text encoding affect accuracy. Reading order is approximate; text crossing a visible page boundary may include cropped characters. Review before sharing.
How to use PDF to Markdown
Choose a PDF, select PDF text order, top-to-bottom or two-column order, then extract. Review and edit the Markdown before downloading.
How it works
Page headings and Markdown hard line breaks are optional. Source punctuation is escaped as literal text. Empty pages are identified without inventing text. Two-column order splits at the fixed midpoint in the main text direction; full-width headings and unequal columns may need correction. Mixed orientations fall back to PDF text order. Rotations and visible page bounds are considered, but text crossing a crop boundary can include cropped characters. Copy/download uses your current edits; restore returns the original extraction. Documents stay in the browser.
Example
Extract a two-column report, compare reading orders, correct headings manually and download the edited Markdown.
