How to use Dog and Cat Food Calculator
Choose your pet’s profile, enter its weight and the food’s energy (kcal per kg, cup or can), then the number of meals and the share of treats.
How it works
Resting energy RER = 70 × weight(kg)^0.75; daily energy = RER × a life-stage factor (1.6 for a neutered adult dog, 1.2 for a neutered cat…). Food amount = daily energy ÷ food energy.
Example
An 18 kg neutered dog needs about 979 kcal a day; with 10 % from treats and food at 3,650 kcal/kg, that is 241 g a day, or 121 g per meal.
