How to use Qibla Direction Finder
Choose a city or press “Use my location”. Turn until the green needle points ahead, using true north. For a check without a compass, face the sun at the time shown under “Sun in the qibla direction”, or follow your shadow at the “opposite” time.
How it works
The qibla is the initial great-circle bearing to the Kaaba (21.4225° N, 39.8262° E). Sun azimuths come from the NOAA solar equations, accurate to about 0.02°.
Example
From London the qibla is 119° from true north (east-south-east), 4,794 km from the Kaaba. In 2026 the sun stands over the Kaaba on 28 May at 10:18 and 15 July at 10:27 London time.
