Esempio: Noto Sans Regular, un TTF da 629 KB, diventa un WOFF2 di circa 200 KB e un WOFF di circa 303 KB. La regola CSS mette prima il WOFF2, così i browser recenti scaricano il file più leggero.
Cosa cambia e cosa no
Cambia solo il contenitore. Un font TrueType resta TrueType e un font CFF (PostScript) resta CFF, quindi un TTF non può diventare un vero OTF né il contrario; il convertitore mantiene l’estensione giusta. Le raccolte di font (.ttc) non sono supportate.
Convertire un font non ne cambia la licenza. I font con incorporamento limitato sono segnalati nell’elenco: verifica la licenza prima di usarli su un sito. Per vedere i caratteri di un font, aprilo nel visualizzatore di font.

Up to 50 fonts of 30 MB each. Only the container changes: TrueType outlines stay TrueType and CFF outlines stay CFF, so TTF cannot become a true OTF or the reverse. Font collections (.ttc) are not supported. Converting does not change the font licence.
WOFF files are written with the W3C WOFF 1.0 layout (zlib per table); WOFF2 uses Google’s encoder and decoder compiled to WebAssembly; font names, weight and style for the CSS come from the font tables (opentype.js). Fonts marked restricted for embedding are flagged.
Noto Sans Regular (629 KB TTF) becomes a 200 KB WOFF2 and a 303 KB WOFF; the CSS rule lists WOFF2 first, then WOFF.

Quale formato uso sul mio sito?
Il solo WOFF2 basta per i browser attuali; aggiungi WOFF solo per browser molto datati. Usa la regola @font-face generata così com’è.
I miei font vengono caricati?
No. Il WOFF è scritto nel browser e il WOFF2 dalla libreria WOFF2 di Google in WebAssembly, in un worker in background; i file restano sul tuo dispositivo.
Posso convertire un TTF in OTF?
Il file può essere salvato come TTF o OTF solo con i contorni originali. Una vera conversione dei contorni tra TrueType e CFF richiede un editor di font.
