Font Converter (TTF, OTF, WOFF, WOFF2).

Convert fonts between TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2 in bulk on your device and get a ready-to-paste @font-face CSS rule for your website.

Limits & supported formats

Up to 50 fonts of 30 MB each. Only the container changes: TrueType outlines stay TrueType and CFF outlines stay CFF, so TTF cannot become a true OTF or the reverse. Font collections (.ttc) are not supported. Converting does not change the font licence.

Only the file container changes: TrueType outlines stay TrueType (.ttf) and PostScript/CFF outlines stay CFF (.otf). Converting does not change the font’s licence.

How to use Font Converter (TTF, OTF, WOFF, WOFF2)

Add your font files, choose the formats to create and press Convert fonts. Download each file, or everything plus a fonts.css file as a ZIP.

How it works

WOFF files are written with the W3C WOFF 1.0 layout (zlib per table); WOFF2 uses Google’s encoder and decoder compiled to WebAssembly; font names, weight and style for the CSS come from the font tables (opentype.js). Fonts marked restricted for embedding are flagged.

Example

Noto Sans Regular (629 KB TTF) becomes a 200 KB WOFF2 and a 303 KB WOFF; the CSS rule lists WOFF2 first, then WOFF.

Convert fonts for your website

  1. Drop your TTF, OTF, WOFF or WOFF2 files on the page, or press Choose fonts.
  2. Select the formats to create: WOFF2 for websites, WOFF for older browsers, TTF / OTF to install the font on a computer.
  3. Press Convert fonts. Each font gets one download button per format.
  4. Press Download all + CSS (ZIP) to get every file plus a fonts.css file with the matching @font-face rules.

Example: Noto Sans Regular, a 629 KB TTF, becomes a WOFF2 of about 200 KB and a WOFF of about 303 KB. The CSS rule lists WOFF2 first, so modern browsers download the smallest file.

What changes and what does not

Only the container changes. A TrueType font stays TrueType and a CFF (PostScript) font stays CFF, so a TTF cannot become a real OTF or the reverse; the converter keeps the right extension for you. Font collections (.ttc) are not supported.

Converting a font does not change its licence. Fonts flagged as restricted for embedding are marked in the list: check the licence before using them on a website. To see the characters a font contains, open it in the Font Viewer.

Questions about Font Converter (TTF, OTF, WOFF, WOFF2)

Which format should I use on my website?

WOFF2 alone is enough for current browsers; add WOFF only if you must support very old ones. Use the generated @font-face rule as it is.

Are my fonts uploaded?

No. WOFF is written in your browser and WOFF2 by Google’s WOFF2 library running as WebAssembly in a background worker; the files stay on your device.

Can I convert TTF to OTF?

The file can be saved again as TTF or OTF only with its original outlines. A real outline conversion between TrueType and CFF needs a font editor.

Is Font Converter (TTF, OTF, WOFF, WOFF2) free, and do I need an account?

Yes. This tool is free to use in your browser without an account. Processing takes place on your device.

What are the limits and what should I check?

Up to 50 fonts of 30 MB each. Only the container changes: TrueType outlines stay TrueType and CFF outlines stay CFF, so TTF cannot become a true OTF or the reverse. Font collections (.ttc) are not supported. Converting does not change the font licence. Review the result before using it in your work.

Is my input sent to a server?

Your input is processed in your browser and is not uploaded by this tool. Files and pasted text are cleared when the page is refreshed. Normal website requests are still required to load the page and its libraries. Read the privacy explanation.
