Simply Supported Beam Calculator.

Find support reactions and the maximum moment for a simple beam with a centre load, an offset load or a uniform load.

Limits & supported formats

Moment uses your force unit times your length unit. The beam is simply supported, with no continuity, deflection or code check. Local arithmetic only. This is a quantity or geometry estimate, not a code check and not a substitute for a licensed professional.

Left reaction
5 force
Right reaction
5 force
Maximum moment
15 force × length

The beam is simply supported. A centre point load splits equally and peaks at load × span / 4. An offset point load uses the opposite segment over the span, and the peak moment is at the load. A uniform load is force per length: each reaction is half the total and the peak moment is w × span² / 8.

How to use Simply Supported Beam Calculator

Enter the span and the load. For an offset load, also enter its distance from the left support. A uniform load is force per length.

How it works

Find support reactions and the maximum moment for a simple beam with a centre load, an offset load or a uniform load. Moment uses your force unit times your length unit. The beam is simply supported, with no continuity, deflection or code check. Local arithmetic only. Example

A 6 m span with a 10-unit point load at midspan.
