How to use IEEE 754 Float Converter
Enter a decimal number or a bit pattern in hex and choose the format. The bit fields, the class (normal, subnormal, zero, infinity, NaN) and the rounding error appear instantly.
How it works
Rounding follows IEEE 754: round to nearest, ties to even, including subnormals and overflow to infinity. The exact decimal value is computed with big integers from the stored bits.
Example
0.1 as a single-precision float is 0x3DCCCCCD, whose exact value is 0.100000001490116119384765625.
