How to use Online Whiteboard (Excalidraw)
Pick a shape, arrow, text or freehand tool from the toolbar and draw. The board is saved in this browser as you work; use the menu to save or open a .excalidraw file, or the buttons to download PNG or SVG.
How it works
Built on Excalidraw (MIT) with its fonts self-hosted; no collaboration server, AI service or CDN is contacted. Supports shapes, arrows that stick to boxes, text, images, frames, library items, dark mode and Mermaid-to-diagram conversion.
Example
Draw three boxes joined by arrows, add labels, switch the hand-drawn style to clean lines, and download a 2× PNG for a slide or an SVG for a website.
Draw on the whiteboard
- Pick a tool in the toolbar: rectangle, diamond, ellipse, arrow, line, freehand, text or image. Number keys select tools quickly (1 to 9).
- Click and drag on the board to draw. Arrows that start or end on a shape stay attached when you move it.
- Select an element to change its colour, stroke, fill, line style or the hand-drawn look in the side panel.
- Use
Full screenfor more room, and scroll or pinch to zoom on the infinite canvas.
Your board is saved automatically in this browser, so it is still there when you come back on the same device.
Save, share and export
Press Download PNG for a high-resolution image (twice the screen size) or Download SVG for a vector file with the text embedded. In the menu (☰), save the board as a .excalidraw file to keep it, send it or open it again later.
This board is for one person: there is no live collaboration or sharing link, and no drawing is sent to a server. For diagrams written as text, try the Mermaid Editor or the Flowchart Maker.
Questions about Online Whiteboard (Excalidraw)
Is my drawing uploaded?
No. Excalidraw runs in your browser and its fonts are served by this site; nothing you draw is sent anywhere.
Will I lose my board if I close the tab?
No, it is kept in this browser’s storage. Clearing site data or using a private window removes it, so save a .excalidraw file for anything important.
Can several people draw together?
Not here: live collaboration needs a server, which this tool does not use. Send the .excalidraw file instead.
Is Online Whiteboard (Excalidraw) free, and do I need an account?
Yes. This tool is free to use in your browser without an account. Processing takes place on your device.
What are the limits and what should I check?
Single-user: there is no live collaboration or sharing link. The board is stored only in this browser until you save a file. The first visit downloads the drawing fonts (up to about 12 MB, only those used). Review the result before using it in your work.
Is my input sent to a server?
Your input is processed in your browser and is not uploaded by this tool. Files and pasted text are cleared when the page is refreshed. Normal website requests are still required to load the page and its libraries. Read the privacy explanation.
