How it works

7-Zip archives (LZMA, LZMA2, BZip2, Deflate and PPMd) are read by libarchive compiled to WebAssembly, through libarchive.js, in a background worker on your device.

You do not need 7-Zip. The archive is read by libarchive compiled to WebAssembly, in a background worker of your browser: the file is never uploaded, and only the files you open are unpacked.

Supported files and limits

7z archives compressed with LZMA, LZMA2, BZip2, Deflate or PPMd are supported. Password-protected 7z files and split archives (.7z.001) cannot be opened here.

Archives up to 500 MB with up to 10,000 files and 2 GB unpacked; ZIP download up to 1 GB unpacked. Download all as ZIP also converts the archive: ZIP files open on every computer and phone without extra software.

No. The archive is read in your browser and stays on your device.

Can I open a password-protected 7Z file?

No. The engine used here cannot decrypt RAR or 7z archives; the file list may appear, but extraction stops with an error. Extract it with the program that created it.

How do I convert a 7Z file to ZIP?

Open it and press Download all as ZIP. The files are repacked into a standard ZIP, with folders kept.
