Database Size Calculator.
Estimate database size now and after months of growth from tables, rows, row and index sizes, overhead, replicas and free space.
- Data now
- 17.49 GB
- Growth per month
- 1.65 GB
- Disk per server (with reserve)
- 74.25 GB
- Total for 2 copies
- 148.5 GB
Tables
| Table | Size now | Size at horizon | Rows at horizon |
|---|---|---|---|
| customers | 169 MB | 298.79 MB | 442,000 |
| orders | 624 MB | 1.37 GB | 2,640,000 |
| order_items | 1.09 GB | 2.4 GB | 8,800,000 |
| events | 15.6 GB | 53.04 GB | 170,000,000 |
- Measure real sizes when possible: PostgreSQL pg_total_relation_size(), MySQL information_schema.TABLES (data_length + index_length), SQL Server sp_spaceused.
- Add room for write-ahead logs, temporary files, backups and maintenance (VACUUM, index rebuilds) on the same volume.
How to use Database Size Calculator
Add one row per table with rows, bytes per row, index bytes per row and new rows per month, then set overhead, horizon, copies and reserve.
How it works
Size = rows × (row + index bytes) × (1 + overhead), now and at the horizon; disk adds the free-space reserve and multiplies by the number of copies.
Example
Four tables with 55 million rows today grow to about 57 GB in 24 months, 148 GB of disk for two copies with reserve.
Questions about Database Size Calculator
Is Database Size Calculator free, and do I need an account?
Yes. This tool is free to use in your browser without an account. Processing takes place on your device.
What are the limits and what should I check?
An estimate; real size depends on engine, types, fill factor and compression. Write-ahead logs and backups are not included. Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing is sent or probed on the network. Review the result before using it in your work.
Is my input sent to a server?
Your input is processed in your browser and is not uploaded by this tool. Files and pasted text are cleared when the page is refreshed. Normal website requests are still required to load the page and its libraries. Read the privacy explanation.
