Network Cable Calculator.

Estimate Ethernet cable boxes, total length, jacks, patch panels and patch cords for a structured cabling job, with length checks.

Limits & supported formats

Average-based estimate; measure runs on drawings for a bill of materials. Fire-rating and local rules are not checked. Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing is sent or probed on the network.

  • Boxes are counted so that no run is spliced: leftover lengths shorter than a run are waste.
  • Fire-safety ratings (CMP/plenum, CMR/riser, LSZH, Euroclass CPR) depend on where cable is installed and local rules.

How to use Network Cable Calculator

Enter the number of runs, shortest and longest run, slack, waste, category, unit and patch panel size.

How it works

Boxes are the larger of total length ÷ box length and runs ÷ runs per box, so no run is spliced. Runs above the 90 m permanent link (24 m for Cat 8) are flagged.

Example

48 Cat 6A runs of 15–70 m with 3 m slack need 8 boxes of 305 m, 2 patch panels and 96 patch cords.
