PoE Budget Calculator.

Check a switch’s PoE budget against cameras, access points and phones by IEEE class, port standard (802.3af/at/bt) and actual draw.

Limits & supported formats

Device profiles are typical values; use the datasheet class. Per-port-group limits and redundant power supplies are not modelled. Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing is sent or probed on the network.

  • Class reservations are the IEEE power at the switch port (15.4, 30, 60 or 90 W…), which includes the worst-case loss in 100 m of cable.
  • Many switches also limit power per port group or need a second power supply for the full PoE budget; check the switch datasheet.

How to use PoE Budget Calculator

Enter the switch PoE budget, ports and port standard, choose class or actual-draw allocation, then add devices (profiles fill typical class and draw).

How it works

Class allocation reserves the IEEE power at the switch port for each class (15.4, 30, 60, 90 W…). Actual-draw mode scales the device draw by the class’s worst-case cable loss.

Example

4 Wi-Fi 6 APs, 12 phones, 6 cameras and a PTZ reserve 356 W of a 370 W budget; the class 6 PTZ is flagged on 802.3at ports.

Questions about PoE Budget Calculator
