PostgreSQL Online Playground.

Run real PostgreSQL in your browser: create tables, insert data and test queries, window functions, JSONB and CTEs, then save the database to reopen it later.

Limits & supported formats

Single user, in memory: reloading the page starts over unless you save the database. Results show up to 10,000 rows. No network access and no extra extensions. The first start downloads about 16 MB.

RUNS IN YOUR BROWSER · NO ACCOUNTStarting PostgreSQL (about 16 MB the first time)…

Real PostgreSQL compiled to WebAssembly (PGlite, Apache-2.0), single user, in memory: reloading the page starts over unless you save the database. Extensions other than the built-in ones and network access are not available.

How to use PostgreSQL Online Playground

Load an example or type SQL and press Run (Ctrl+Enter). Tables appear on the left; click one to see its rows. Save database downloads a file you can open again later.

How it works

Uses PGlite (Apache-2.0), PostgreSQL compiled to WebAssembly, in a background worker; wasm and data files are served by this site. Supports standard PostgreSQL SQL: joins, window functions, CTEs, JSONB, generate_series, sequences and constraints.

Example

The employees example creates a table, inserts four rows and groups them by department: Engineering averages 70000.00 and Sales 56000.00.

Run PostgreSQL in your browser

  1. Wait for the header to show the PostgreSQL version; the first visit downloads the engine (about 16 MB) once.
  2. Pick a program in Example or type your own SQL. Several statements separated by semicolons run in order.
  3. Press Run (Ctrl+Enter). Results appear as tables you can download as CSV; the left column lists your tables and their columns.
  4. Press Save database to download the whole database, and Open saved database to continue later.

Example: the employees example creates a table, inserts four people and groups them by department. Engineering averages 70000.00 and Sales 56000.00.

What you can do and the limits

This is real PostgreSQL compiled to WebAssembly, so SQL behaves as on a server: constraints, sequences, joins, window functions, recursive CTEs, JSONB, generate_series and date functions. It suits learning, interviews and testing queries.

The database lives in this page: reloading starts over unless you saved it, and there is no network access, no other users and no extra extensions. For SQLite files use the SQLite Viewer; to query spreadsheets, use SQL Query on CSV & JSON Files.

Questions about PostgreSQL Online Playground

Is my data sent to a server?

No. PostgreSQL runs as WebAssembly in a background worker of your browser, and saved databases are files on your device.

Which PostgreSQL version is it?

The header shows the exact version reported by SELECT version().

Can I connect to it from another program?

No. It runs inside this page only and does not open a network port.

Is PostgreSQL Online Playground free, and do I need an account?

Yes. This tool is free to use in your browser without an account. Processing takes place on your device.

What are the limits and what should I check?

Single user, in memory: reloading the page starts over unless you save the database. Results show up to 10,000 rows. No network access and no extra extensions. The first start downloads about 16 MB. Review the result before using it in your work.

Is my input sent to a server?

Your input is processed in your browser and is not uploaded by this tool. Files and pasted text are cleared when the page is refreshed. Normal website requests are still required to load the page and its libraries. Read the privacy explanation.
