The UTC offset of the zone is sampled day by day, then the exact minute of each change is found by binary search with Intl.DateTimeFormat. Half-hour changes (Lord Howe Island) and zones without daylight saving time are handled.

Daylight Saving Time Dates (When Do Clocks Change): worked example

European Union 2026: clocks go back one hour on Sunday 25 October at 03:00 (it is 02:00 again); USA and Canada: Sunday 1 November at 02:00.

When do the clocks change in 2026?

The tool detects your time zone and shows the next change with a countdown, then both changes of the year. Choose another zone or year in the list to check anywhere in the world, from 1970 to 2100.

In the European Union the change happens at the same instant everywhere, 01:00 UTC: 02:00 becomes 03:00 in Paris in March, and 03:00 becomes 02:00 again in October. In the United States and Canada each zone changes at 02:00 local time.

Spring forward, fall back: what the result means

  • Clocks go forward (summer time starts): one hour is skipped, so you sleep an hour less and a time such as 02:30 does not exist that night.
  • Clocks go back (summer time ends): one hour is repeated, so the night is an hour longer and 02:30 happens twice.
  • The UTC offset column shows the change, for example UTC+01:00 → UTC+02:00 for Paris in March.
  • Some places shift by 30 minutes (Lord Howe Island in Australia) and many countries never change: the tool says “No daylight saving time” with the offset used all year.

Reminders and planning across time zones

Download the .ics file to add each change to Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar, with a reminder 12 hours before. For calls around the change dates, check the gap between cities with the Time Zone Converter or the Best Meeting Time Finder; between late October and early November Europe and North America are one hour closer than usual.

The dates come from the time-zone database built into your browser and operating system. Countries that change their rules at short notice are only right after an update, so check official announcements for very recent changes.
