Output format
Near-lossless, larger files

Re-saving removes EXIF data such as GPS position and camera details. Photos: JPG, WebP or AVIF. Logos, screenshots and graphics: PNG with reduced colours or WebP. AVIF, JPEG XL, MozJPEG and OxiPNG use open-source Squoosh codecs running on your device (first use downloads up to 3.5 MB once).

How to use TIFF to JPG Converter

Add your TIFF files, keep JPG or choose another format, set the quality and press Convert images. Download each file or all of them as a ZIP.

How it works

TIFF files are decoded by ImageMagick compiled to WebAssembly (libtiff with LZW, ZIP, JPEG and PackBits compression, 8- and 16-bit) in a background worker, then saved with the same encoders as the Image Converter. EXIF metadata is not kept.

Example

A 16-bit TIFF scan becomes an 8-bit JPG at quality 90 with MozJPEG; transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose.

Convert TIFF files to JPG

  1. Drop your TIFF or TIF files on the page, or press Choose images. You can add up to 50 at once.
  2. Keep JPG as the output format, or choose PNG for lossless files, WebP or AVIF for smaller web images.
  3. Set the quality: 90 keeps scans sharp; 75 gives much smaller files for e-mail.
  4. Press Convert images, then download each file or all of them as a ZIP.

The first use downloads the TIFF decoder (ImageMagick compiled to WebAssembly, about 15 MB) once; your files are decoded in your browser and never uploaded.

Scans, 16-bit files and multi-page TIFF

Scanners and cameras often save 16-bit TIFF files with LZW or ZIP compression. They are read in full and reduced to 8 bits, which is what JPG and most screens use. Transparent areas become the background colour you choose when you save as JPG.

A multi-page TIFF, such as a fax or a scanned document, is converted from its first page only. To turn a scan into a PDF, convert it here and then use Images to PDF. For other formats, the Image Converter accepts TIFF too.

Questions about TIFF to JPG Converter

Are my TIFF files uploaded?

No. The decoder runs in a background worker in your browser, so the files stay on your device.

Will the JPG lose quality?

JPG is a lossy format, so a little detail is lost; at quality 90 it is hard to see. Choose PNG if you need an exact copy of the pixels.

Why is only one page converted?

The tool converts the first page of each TIFF. Split multi-page files in your scanning software if you need every page.

Is TIFF to JPG Converter free, and do I need an account?

Yes. This tool is free to use in your browser without an account. Processing takes place on your device.

What are the limits and what should I check?

Up to 50 images per batch, 50 MB and 50 megapixels each. Multi-page TIFF files: only the first page is converted. The decoder (ImageMagick, about 15 MB) downloads once on first use; nothing is uploaded. Review image dimensions, transparency and quality before downloading.

Is my input sent to a server?
