Dead Pixel Test.

Find dead and stuck pixels by filling your screen with solid colors in full screen. Manual or automatic color cycle, no flashing.

Limits & supported formats

Visual inspection only: the browser cannot detect defective pixels automatically, and this tool does not repair stuck pixels. Full screen depends on browser support; where it is unavailable, such as on iPhone, the colors fill the page instead.

Dead pixel test

Clean the screen, open full screen and look closely at each solid color for dots that do not match.

A dot that stays black on every color is a dead pixel; a dot that keeps one color is a stuck pixel. Dust moves when you wipe the screen. This test does not repair pixels and uses no rapid flashing.

How to use Dead Pixel Test

Clean the screen, open full screen, then click or use the arrow keys to cycle through black, white, red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow and gray. Look for dots that do not match the color. Press Esc to exit.

How it works

Each color fills the whole display at full intensity. Automatic mode changes color every 3 seconds; there is no rapid flashing. The cursor and instructions hide after a moment so they are not mistaken for a defect.

Example

A dot that stays black on white and colored screens is a dead pixel; a dot that remains bright red on black is a stuck subpixel.
