Values come from the browser and can be rounded, scaled by zoom or limited by privacy settings. Power saving, variable refresh rate or a background tab can lower the measured refresh rate.
How to use Screen Test
Read the display values, measure the refresh rate again if needed, then open a test pattern in full screen. Click or use the arrow keys to move between patterns and press Esc to exit.
How it works
Screen, matchMedia and requestAnimationFrame APIs are read locally. Sharpness patterns are drawn at device-pixel resolution, and gradients use exact 8-bit steps to reveal banding. Nothing is sent from this page.
Example
A 4K monitor at 150% scaling reports 2560 × 1440 CSS pixels with a pixel ratio of 1.5, estimated as 3840 × 2160 physical pixels.
Questions about Screen Test
Is Screen Test free, and do I need an account?
Yes. This tool is free to use in your browser without an account. Processing takes place on your device.
What are the limits and what should I check?
Values are those reported by the browser and can be rounded, affected by zoom or limited for privacy. Refresh rate is measured from animation frames and can be lower with power saving, variable refresh rate or background tabs. Patterns are visual aids, not calibration. Review the result before using it in your work.
Is my input sent to a server?
Your input is processed in your browser and is not uploaded by this tool. Files and pasted text are cleared when the page is refreshed. Normal website requests are still required to load the page and its libraries. Read the privacy explanation.
